Frequently asked questions

Can I register my boat in France if I do not live there?

Yes, provided you are a national of an European Union country. In the case of joint ownership, at least 50% of the boat must be owned by EU nationals.

What exactly is domiciliation?

It is an administrative address in France, held by an agent who receives administrative mail on your behalf and forwards it to you. It is neither a residence nor a simple PO box.

Does this agreement make me liable for tax in France?

No: domiciliation does not make you personally liable for tax in France, as it is strictly limited to the French registration of the boat. However, your boat may be subject to the annual tax (TAEMUP), depending on its hull length (7 m or more) or engine power.
